SouthGATV is hiring: News Anchor in Cordele

WSWG-CBS44 & WSST-TV55 in the Albany, Georgia DMA wants two bright, informed, creative, and experienced news anchors for CBS44 News newscasts in our state-of-the-art studio.

We’re looking for self-starters with a passion for news and delivering timely, relevant information to our growing audiences. Experienced journalists who can analyze the day’s local news events and content, translating all into an informative and entertaining news story or segment.

Responsibilities:

1. Duties include show producing/script copyediting for air and online.
2. Writing and editing video & graphic elements for stories across all platforms.
3. Vetting & verifying information and sources, especially in breaking news scenarios.
4. Approving scripts/fonts for air.
5. Have an editorial interest in reporter stories, helping/guide them through the story generation process.
6. Utilize & interact with social media/audience to promote news product.
7. Knowledge of slander & libel laws.

Qualifications:

1. Our winning candidates will have a degree in Journalism or a related field, and/or have an equivalent combination of education and related work experience, preferably of two years or more.
2. Superior communication skills required with fluency in English; both oral and written, with a preference for bilingual candidates.
3. Proficiency with modern-day computers, cameras, editing technology, and office equipment.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task, with attention to detail.
5. Anchor leadership qualities are critical for this shift in particular; you must lead by example!
6. Team player skills are also vital!
