Job Summary
The UM-Flint School of Management is seeking a Communications Specialist with a background in marketing and a passion for storytelling. You will lead the development and implementation of marketing strategies, enhancing the visibility and reputation of our School. Your responsibilities will include collaborating and coordinating with multiple departments, faculty, alumni, and students to align marketing efforts and promote our diverse programs. You will utilize a range of media platforms to create engaging content, maintain communication channels, and manage marketing and communication projects. You will identify and develop compelling stories that showcase the achievements and promote initiatives within the School.
Currently, our work environment offers the best of both worlds with a hybrid model. You can expect an on-campus presence for three days each week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.
This position will report to the Director of Student Support Services.
Responsibilities*
Marketing Development
- Work with unit leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to promote School of Management programs. Create and coordinate marketing content for multiple platforms (web, social media, print, advertising, billboards, video, news stories, commercials, CRM/TargetX, etc.) Maintain website, catalog, newsletters, faculty handbook, and School of Management social media accounts.
Marketing Communications
- Work with unit leadership to build relationships with community partners and alumni, facilitate information sessions, and make presentations to increase School of Management programs marketability and visibility. Coordinate the creation and distribution of internal and external marketing and communication materials. Serve on campus-wide and university-wide committees relative to position. Work with marketing colleagues across UMF units (academic and nonacademic) for School of Management events.
- Contribute to organization and facilitation of School of Management events. Provide support for both face-to-face and remote events. Produce quality photos and videos from School of Management. Debrief on School of Management events.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in communications, advertising, marketing, journalism or relevant field
- 3 or more years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or related field that is directly relevant to the job duties of this position
- Familiarity with relevant Social Media platforms, along with demonstrated knowledge of best practices in creating content
- Working knowledge of WordPress or other content management systems
- Experience working with production professionals, including designers, printers, and various media

Modes of Work
Hybrid:
The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.
