Reporting to the Director of Public Health for the Town of Burlington, the Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the Tri-Ton Coalition, an inter-municipal shared services program serving the Towns of Burlington, Lexington, and Wilmington public health departments, with developing, implementing, and evaluating communication materials and programs.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate marketing and outreach efforts.
- Produce and disseminate communication products, tools, events, activities, and resources to engage external and internal audiences.
- Collaborate with local health directors, shared services staff, community partners, and residents to integrate messaging research into communications efforts.
- Develop standardized protocols for inter-municipal communication and collaboration (e.g., guidelines for response times, document sharing, etc.).
- Set up feedback mechanisms, such as surveys or regular meetings, to gather input from municipalities on the effectiveness of the communication and collaboration framework to identify best practices and areas for improvement.
- Promote events, programs, and services through social media platforms, websites, and a monthly newsletter.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public health or a related field. Knowledge of social media strategies and design programs. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
This is a part-time, grant-funded position expected to run through June 2026 with potential to expand beyond that. Starting salary is $35.00 per hour with a maximum of 19 hours per week.
