Joining the Secret Service, Office of Investigations, will allow you to utilize knowledge, judgment and experience to support the internal mission.
Duties
The selectee will serve as a Communication Operations Specialist in the Office of Investigations. Typical work assignments include:
- Operating a multi-frequency communications console unit to maintain vocal liaison with field personnel.
- Transmitting and receiving messages over nationwide computer networks and systems using a variety of computers.
- Disseminating geographical information to aid in protective and criminal investigations.
- Maintaining a log of unusual incidents occurring during the shift.
- Responding to emergency situations to provide necessary assistance to employees.
If selected for this position, you will be required to:
- You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required.
- Obtain and maintain a top secret Tier 5 clearance.
- Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Qualifications
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification for the GS-09 and/or GS-11 requirements as noted below:
Minimum Qualifications:
GS-09: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $63,867.00) if you possess one of the following:
- One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
- Operating automation and/or communications equipment;
- Accomplishing several tasks at once such as typing, operating radios, and telephones;
- Providing assistance to the public.
- Successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related at an accredited college or university.
- A combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (less than two years) that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $68,864.00) if you possess one of the following:
- One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
- Responding to emergency and/or non-emergency calls;
- Utilizing computers or systems to communicate with emergency personnel;
- Researching and providing information to stakeholders.
- Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university.
- A combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education) that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement.
