DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The Department of Culture and Communication at California State University Maritime Academy is seeking applications from a diverse group of qualified individuals for a part-time lecturer pool on our Vallejo campus. The department is seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in any of our concentrations: Developmental and Expository Writing (College Composition), Advanced Writing (GWR/GWAR), Speech/oral communication, and Critical Thinking. All classes are taught in-person on our Vallejo campus.
MINIMUM/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An earned Ph.D. degree in English, Comparative Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field is preferred. Closely related master’s degree, MFA, or ABD status may be acceptable depending on the position. We strongly encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses including Expository Writing, Advanced Writing (GWR/GWAR), Critical Thinking, Speech, or Literature. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students across a wide range of disciplines.
