GVW MARKETING COPYWRITER/EDITOR OVERVIEW:

We are looking for the best and brightest to join our marketing team. This position is a new full-time role and will be based in our Birmingham Office, AL. You will be supported by highly committed and passionate colleagues who are working toward a rapid growth in awareness of the GVW operating brands. Responsibilities for this role will include developing an annual PR and copy strategy for Autocar, Aculocity, Triz Engineering, and GVW’s parts businesses, and supporting any internal needs.

At the outset, the focus will be on the Autocar brand. Autocar seeks to deliver custom engineered, severe duty vocational trucks, with the customer at the heart of all we do. Given this engineering background, immersing yourself into a large amount of automotive technical content will be required so that a thorough understanding of the business environment is set.

Anyone entering this role must have a passion for detail and be comfortable with working through large amounts of technical information to ensure an accurate reflection of the facts. The copy must also be emotive and compelling, as this role’s output will be in the public domain and Autocar LLC must continue to be perceived as a premium brand and thought leader in vocational trucking.

This candidate must feel comfortable being proactive and asking questions that increase their knowledge of the business and the broader market.

DETAILED SUBJECT MATTER:
  • Immediate requirement:
    • Understand the GVW Investment Holding Company copy and PR requirements and deliver the planning and execution of same.
    • Learn about all GVW’s Operating Entities and gain specific insights into the key value proposition and customer mindset / unique need.
    • Develop an annual PR and copy strategy for all vocations within Autocar.
    • Support the Marketing CRM communication with copy for all lead journeys within Adobe Marketo, including emails, websites, PDFs.
    • Draft press releases and blogs that portray Autocar as a thought leader and expert in our four defined vocations.
    • Draft Monthly Organic Social Media content across FB, Insta, X, and YT.
    • Draft Special Day (Christmas, 4th July, Veterans Day etc) SM copy.
    • Edit content created by the marketing team and external agency partners.
    • Bylines and media alerts as required in the PR strategy.
    • 1 newsletter per quarter.
  • Medium Term:
    • Thorough understanding of all operating entities and delivery of PR and copy plan for same.
    • Detailed understanding of Autocar, why we build trucks our competitors do not.
    • Thorough understanding of Autocar’s “Power of One” (PO1) integration and building on our leadership position within this capability that differentiates our brand.
    • Draft copy to support GVW HR.
    • Support the marketing team with drafting of internal correspondence.
ENVIRONMENT:

The Marketing Copywriter will be based at our production facility in Birmingham, AL. They will report to the Marketing Director based in Cape Town, South Africa. The environment is high-energy, fast-paced, competitive, and fun.

REPORTING TO:

GVW Marketing Director / CMO

OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:
  • Organize marketing collateral and electronic marketing resources.
  • Conduct market research projects.
  • Track and monitor effectiveness of copywriting / PR campaigns.
  • Assist with generating social media copy.
  • Actively participate in setting the broader marketing plan.
QUALIFICATIONS AND VALUES:
  • Experienced Copywriter who has worked in a structured and fast-paced environment for over 5 years.
  • Graduate or post-graduate qualification.
  • Self-driven, self-starter.
  • Team player with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-oriented and willing to take initiative.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, Outlook, and Word.
