Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000
Schedule: 27 hours/week
SUMMARY:
To assist the Vice President of Arts and Culture to develop and implement innovative and high-quality film programs from Asia and the diaspora that will further enhance the reputation of Asia Society as a leading presenter of Asian arts and culture in the United States and globally. To build partnerships and work with colleagues to nurture support and widen impact of programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To develop, implement and manage artistic programs of films from Asia and the diaspora, and manage the programs of films shown at Asia Society.
- To liaise with external collaborators to organize high-quality film festivals—consulting with Director, Asia Society Museum and Director, Culture and Diplomacy and working in tandem with Director of Museum Administration and Operation, and manage the project in a timely and professional fashion.
- To identify and cultivate, and grow audience and donors to support programs. This includes writing content narratives for grant applications.
- To research and identify the most innovative filmmakers working in the field with the aim of developing new scholarship and new ideas on Asian arts and culture.
- To assist with budgets, scheduling and event outreach.
- To respond to questions on Asian film from public and media.
- To perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Film Studies or a related field, with a focus on Asian cinema
- 6-8 years related experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills.
- Wide knowledge of Asian art and culture, including at least one Asian language.
- Interest of a broad range of Asian arts, including pre-modern, modern and contemporary art.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite skills, Photoshop, Filemaker (or equivalent database), design programs, Salesforce.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000
Compensation within this range is determined by skills, experience, and organizational equity.
