The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Microreplication and Film Coating Research Engineer will work to develop novel microreplication and nanoimprint tooling technology as well as multi-layer optical film (MOF) coating processes. This person will work cross-functionally with division, manufacturing, and corporate laboratories to enable product development teams to build new products for the Transportation, Energy, and Electronics markets.
Your Skills and Expertise
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead coating process experiments in lab, pilot and factory settings
- Develop nanoimprint and microreplication tooling advancements to enable new product introductions
- Generate prototype film samples for commercial sampling
- Interact with NTI/NPI teams to support new growth programs
- Work with corporate experts to implement new coating materials
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline
- Min. 1 yr industrial or academic process engineering experience
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Possess a master’s degree or higher in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering discipline
- Coating materials understanding including photopolymerizable and water-based chemistries
- Process understanding of web-based coating and film production
- Experience with nanoimprint or nanoimprint lithography (NIL) processes
- Experience with coating and extrusion replication
- Ability to prioritize time and manage multiple tasks
- Experience in either R&D laboratory or plant settings
- Comfort with a dynamic, hands-on work environment
- Demonstrated strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel as needed
- Ability to communicate effectively in cross-functional teams
Location: Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
