The Opportunity

The Prepress Designer uses knowledge of the flexographic printing process to interpret / convert customer supplied inputs into an approved art file that conforms to all specifications in order to facilitate the production and use of photopolymer printing plates for large format flexographic printing.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  1. Accurately prepare / create art files for approval by internal / external customers
  2. Understand, communicate and apply appropriate graphic allowances
  3. Understand graphic requirements through the use of Customer / Press Specification Library
  4. Add printing marks and set bleeds as required
  5. Check and proof artwork to ensure accuracy ahead of sending to QC dept
  6. Perform audits of work instruction procedures
  7. Collaborate with Team Members and Management to develop creative corrective actions / solutions to customer issues or gaps in process to improve quality, lower cost and accelerate speed to market
  8. Establish goals, track results
  9. Prioritize and organize daily workload
  10. Assure that on a daily basis all company standards and Customer commitments are met
  11. Work Safely at all times
  12. Perform other duties as assigned and assist anywhere needed

What you need to succeed:

  1. Experience with Flexographic Printing and Plates preferred
  2. Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office and Mac Experience Required
  3. Detail oriented
  4. Strong written & oral communication skills (experience necessary)
  5. Problem solving and analytical skills
  6. Excellent time management skills - ability to be proactive and acknowledge priority
  7. Knowledge of production capabilities and other department operations
  8. Ability to resolve conflicts and develop teamwork
  9. Ability to work independently
