POSITION PURPOSE
The Graphic Design Specialist is charged with utilizing creativity and technical design skills to maintain and elevate Visit Indy’s visual brand in service of driving leisure tourism and meetings/conventions/events to the city of Indianapolis. The purpose of the Graphic Design Specialist is to create compelling materials that contribute to the team’s goal of driving economic impact through effective sales and marketing. All Visit Indy team members reflect the organization’s “3 Ps” culture – productive, positive and progressive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic Design & Production:
- Create high-quality, brand-aligned marketing materials for print, web, social media, and other digital platforms.
- Develop motion graphics to enhance digital content (preferred but not required).
Campaign & Event Support:
- Contribute to brainstorming and planning for Visit Indy’s annual marketing campaigns.
- Design materials for key annual events, including the State of Tourism, ROSE Awards, and partner gatherings.
Project Management:
- Balance multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables meet deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Communications team to maintain alignment with overall strategies.
Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Manage relationships with external vendors and local stakeholders, translating ideas into tangible designs.
- Communicate effectively to gather requirements and present concepts.
Administrative Tools:
- Utilize Microsoft 360 tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for communication and project coordination.
- Ability to work in website administrative tools including CMS (content management system) and CRM (customer relationship management) systems.
Other Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a graphic design or related role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other design tools).
- Experience with motion graphics and animation is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude.
PROJECT EXAMPLES
Visit Indy produces a wide range of marketing messages requiring design enhancement. The below list is a sampling of the type of projects an individual in this position would be expected to apply their graphic design skills to produce.
- Presentation design (sales, board meetings, etc.)
- Print design for advertising, brochures, postcards, and more.
- Large format design for signage, billboards, and other applications.
- Email marketing messages.
- Digital display advertising.
- Motion graphics for video.
- Website graphics to support messaging.
