EQUIVALENCY PROCEDURE
Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement but believe they possess the equivalent, must submit an Equivalency Application Form including full supporting documentation and mail to the Human Resources Department (this is separate from the online application). All non-U.S transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation and translation service in order to be reviewed for equivalency.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
- Required documents will include:
- Current resume of experience, formal education/training and qualifications.
- Copies of supporting credentials, if applicable.
- Copies of transcripts from fully accredited college or university institutions. (This means we do not need official copies. Please do not mail or fax transcripts. You must scan your transcripts and upload them to your application.)
Note: A written evaluation by an official foreign credentials/transcripts evaluation and translation service must be submitted for Foreign Degree(s) (non-U.S. degrees) by the application deadline date.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employees must satisfy all pre-employment requirements to work for the District, which include, but are not limited to, the following items:
- Tuberculosis Examination: Prior to employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit evidence of being free of tuberculosis within the past sixty (60) days.
- Fingerprinting Requirement: All employees working for community colleges in the State of California are required to be fingerprinted within the first ten (10) working days of the date of employment.
- Immigration Requirement: The Peralta Community College District is required to verify that all new employees are citizens or nationals of the United States or aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States.

Position Information
Job Title: Temporary, Part-Time Librarian
Compensation: Ranges from $74.53 - $124.41/hour. Salary placement based on education, experience and other provisions outlined in the District's agreement with the Peralta Federation of Teachers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in library science, or library and information science.
- May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Library Science.
- The equivalent qualifications.
Desirable Qualifications:
Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
