Job Description
- Select, digitize, convert, and upload manuscript and archival materials into the Institutional Repository, Marshall Digital Scholar (a Digital Commons product).
- Seek out and develop relationships with university stakeholders who create and disseminate university documents to assure adequate preservation in Marshall Digital Scholar.
- Perform quality control review of the completeness and accuracy of descriptive metadata and assign, transform, and improve descriptive metadata in Marshall Digital Scholar.
- Collaborate with Digital Commons liaison to improve accessibility, design, and functionality of Marshall Digital Scholar.
- Process, preserve, arrange, and describe manuscript and archival collections by adhering to archival standards.
- Collaborate with Digital Preservation Librarian and University Archivist to develop policies and procedures for access and long-term preservation of a wide range of digitized and born digital objects.
- Contribute in coverage of the Special Collections Reference/Circulation Desk and participate in research/instruction requests.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in library science or related field.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience handling archival, special collections, and other fragile historical materials.
- Proficiency in using digitization hardware and software to digitize and edit photos, documents, audio, and video.
- Experience working with digital asset management systems and/or library service platforms, such as Digital Commons, ContentDM, or ArchivesSpace.
- Keen attention to detail and aptitude for accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student community.
- Familiarity with MS Office and Adobe applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited university.
- Experience: Experience in academic libraries.
Salary Range
$37,700-$43,531 (Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.)
