Come join our team as a part-time Library Clerk I in the Library Services Department! Currently, there is one part-time position available, which will report to the Mariners Branch Library.


Selection Components:

  1. Application Evaluation: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with the first review of applications on January 21, 2025 OR until 150 applications are received, whichever occurs first. Please apply immediately as the recruitment may close at any time. The most qualified applicants will be invited to take an online exam.
  2. Online Exam: Tentatively scheduled for the week of January 30, 2025. Top scoring applicants will be invited to a virtual interview.
  3. Virtual Interview: Tentatively scheduled for the week of February 06, 2025. Applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur in the Central Library, Balboa, Corona del Mar, and Mariners branches.

This position is part of the part-time Library Clerk Series which includes: Library Clerk I, Library Clerk II, and Senior Library Clerk.


Schedule:

This position works a flexible schedule of up to 19 hours per week and will include days, nights, and weekends based on the needs of the Library. Please see the online job description for a detailed description of essential duties.


Qualifications:

A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Experience: No experience is required, but previous experience in a customer service setting and/or clerical experience is preferred.
  • Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • License/Certificate: Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record may be required.
