Examples of Duties
A Staff Development Coordinator-Library plans and coordinates a comprehensive training program for employees of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library System, including performing needs assessments, developing training curricula, providing various content trainings, as well as train the trainer sessions to maximize department training resources;
Conduct training and employee development needs assessments across entire library system;
Develop training curriculum based on needs assessments, both general for all employees and specific based on title and/or service area;
Deliver effective trainings utilizing proven adult learning techniques and service area experts;
Collaborate with library administration, managers, directors and team leaders to provide trainings to deliver coordinated solutions and enhance library culture and alignment with the vision and core values;
Build positive relationships across library system and become the key point of contact for performance management and staff development;
Develop, implement, and assess talent strategies and programs, such as performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and organizational development;
Work with supervisors for employee performance management, evaluations and probation periods, talent development, career path planning and succession planning;
Create new trainings or in-services as needed when gaps in skills/competencies are identified;
Use creative marketing techniques to promote training, raise awareness of benefits of training and maximize attendance of target audience; Prepare and conduct in-service training programs for all staff, including a formal orientation program for new hires, managers, directors, and trustees;
Facilitate and oversee contracted training;
Maintain system-wide training calendar and schedule;
Maintain records of training plans, curriculum and other projects;
Advise staff who are enrolled in educational programs; may supervise mentor and internship opportunities;
Prepare and submit reports as directed by the Assistant Deputy Director of Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must meet one of the following requirements on or before the date of the written test:
A.) Possession of a Master’s Degree* in Human Resources, Education or related field and two (2) years of staff training experience; or:
B.) Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree* in Human Resources, Social Work, Education or related field and four (4) years of staff training experience; or:
C.) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
