The Digital Media Coordinator is responsible for interacting and engaging with users digitally, by developing and executing an online strategy for Lutheran Church of Hope’s (West Des Moines) social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.

Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain and execute a social media strategy unique to each platform to increase the visibility and interaction of Hope’s social content through consistent and strategic posting. These platforms currently include Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
  • Moderate all user-generated content on social media channels in a timely manner, connecting users with necessary ministry contacts.
  • Ensure Hope’s social media presence aligns with branding guidelines, language and style – working with the graphic design team to maintain consistency in social designs.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite to resize graphics for social platforms, as well as to create new content.
  • Create, edit and upload videos for distribution on social platforms.
  • Capture content through a creative lens and stay current on trending content to improve viewership and engagement of posts.
  • Monitor and reply to Google Reviews and direct messages on social platforms.
  • Collaborate with Hope’s various ministries to identify social media opportunities to promote programs and events happening at Hope.
  • Encourage positive internal and external communication of Hope events and classes.
  • Maintain communication strategies in coordination with the church-wide strategy and in cooperation with the Communications Team.
  • Equip and grow Hope’s Social Media Volunteer Team to provide additional social media support during worship, special events, and other times as needed.
  • Presence and participation at West Des Moines worship services and primary events.
  • Extra duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated, with good multitasking and organizational abilities.
  • Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective relationships and communication with church staff and ministries, volunteers, church members, and guests.
  • Demonstrates honesty and integrity; respects confidentiality, Hope policies and team structure.
  • Works independently and with confidence, demonstrating initiative and ability to work without close supervision.
  • Is a self-starter, with excellent writing, editing, design (photo/video/text) skills, and the ability to adhere to branding guidelines when doing so.
  • Ability to foster creative ideas and concepts, with the vision to further the mission of Lutheran Church of Hope.
  • Commitment to always reflect in the best possible light Lutheran Church of Hope, its staff, and the mission, vision, and values.

Requirements:

  • Attends worship weekly in person at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, New Media, Design, or related field
  • 2+ years of related work experience preferred

Hours:

  • Full-Time (40 hours)
  • Sunday morning availability required; flexibility for additional times outside the typical work week (to cover special events as needed) also required.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Commensurate with Position & Experience, based upon National Wage Survey(s) of Comparative Churches
