Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is accepting applications for the position of Instructional Designer (P00001257). The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering faculty training on eLearning technologies, multimedia design, and content creation software (e.g., video editing, interactive media), as well as supporting faculty in implementing multimedia elements in their courses. This is a twelve-month full-time position. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field. A minimum of one year's experience in online education is required along with appropriate working knowledge of Blackboard.


Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Applicants having completed two or more semesters of teaching online courses preferred.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Emerging Technologies and Best Practices: Remain abreast of best practices in multimedia design and digital pedagogy. Research new eLearning technologies to identify and recommend innovative solutions for online course delivery.
  • Multimedia Content Development Support: Collaborate with faculty to design and implement multimedia that enhances course objectives and active learning. Support content creation (e.g., videos, animations) and ensure accessibility and quality standards.
  • Instructional Design and eLearning Consultation: Collaborate with faculty to create student-centered learning activities and assessments that align with university, program, and departmental learning objectives. Assess needs, recommend multimedia strategies, and create reusable assets for consistent course development. Support LMS integration to maintain compatibility and accessibility.
  • Faculty Training and Development: Develop and deliver training on eLearning tools, multimedia, and content creation. Provide faculty with workshops, consultations, and resources to improve multimedia integration in courses.
  • Quality Assurance and Accessibility: Ensure all multimedia content meets quality and accessibility standards, providing guidance on ADA compliance (e.g., captions, alt text) to support all learners. Collaborate with faculty and the eLearning Instructional Design Team to develop and build online courses that meet best practice standards. Serve as Quality Matters Peer Reviewer for subscriber managed Quality Matters Course Reviews for the University.
  • Collaborate with the director of eLearning on various analytical projects dealing with online education;
  • Collaborate with other UA Little Rock departments relative to the selection, integration, and support of appropriate learning technologies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of online/hybrid course and program development process
  • Demonstrated excellence in developing innovative and successful online and hybrid courses;
  • Thorough knowledge of current adult and distance pedagogical theory and familiarity with university-level curriculum development and instructional methods;
  • Experience in developing and conducting training sessions, both face-to-face and virtual;
  • Thorough knowledge of current technological tools for online and hybrid education;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience designing courses in BlackBoard Learn.

Salary Information: $60,000.00
