Music or Recreation Therapist

Beaumont Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A new, 144-bed behavioral health facility - Beaumont Behavioral Hospital will provide a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults, and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues will be offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility will provide a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family, and individual therapy.

Position Summary

The Music Therapist is responsible for the provision of Music Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient's behavior, be it cognitive, social, emotional, or physical. The therapist educates the patient in healthy coping skills and available resources to continue the client in post-discharge planning and involvement. The therapist will be responsible for the provision of services according to the current standards of practice.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Music therapy with Certification in Music Therapy required or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Therapy with a current CTRS.
  • Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) required.
