Job Title: Lecturer - Music (Applied Clarinet)

Job Description Summary: Oakland University, School of Music, Theatre and Dance, invites applicants for a part-time Instructor of Music – Applied Clarinet position to join our instrumental faculty, beginning August 15, 2024. Primary responsibilities: teach undergraduate applied clarinet lessons, lead studio classes, and performance-based repertoire and pedagogy courses. Other opportunities based on candidate’s qualifications may include: 1) performing with resident Oakland Symphony Orchestra, 2) coaching small chamber ensemble(s), and 3) other possible teaching duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue growth and success in their performance career, while maintaining a strong commitment to teaching, recruiting/retention, and service to the field. This posting is to create a pool of interested applicants from which the Department may draw as sections become open at any point in the 2024-2025 academic year. This posting may or may not result in the hiring of an applicant. Pre-employment screening includes verification of academic credentials and background check.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in clarinet performance or related field, and experience as a teacher and performer at the University level.
