Plans, implements, coordinates, and supervises an assigned group of children and youth; promotes quality of programs and safety of campers at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to campers; promotes and stimulates camper participation; coordinates and leads campers through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility; supervises campers during unscheduled program time and evenings; ensures compliance with camp rules and regulations at all times.

Key responsibilities:

1. Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled activities and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
2. Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience. Supervises cabin clean up and work details.
3. Coordinates and leads youth through their daily schedule ensuring punctuality and responsibility.
4. Lives with a group of campers and helps each camper adjust and get to know other campers and camp life.
5. Interprets and maintains camper compliance with camp rules and safety regulations.
6. Assists with program activities and other activities as assigned working closely with the program staff.
7. Be prepared with rainy day activities as needed.
8. Inspects fire extinguishers and reports to Head Counselor if any extinguisher has been dispensed.
9. Ensures that all cleaning solutions are locked up except during use and used only with supervision.
10. Assures that all beds in the cabin have at least 30 inches between sides of beds.
11. Stays in cabin with campers at night and ensures proper supervision.
12. Maintains an incident report book on all campers for each camp session.
13. May be asked to teach a class according to experiences or expertise.
14. At the end of each camp session, cleans all mattresses, sinks, showers, toilets, and mops floors with bleach water.
15. Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
16. Maintains the camp materials in an orderly fashion and ensures accountability for any laundry, money, and supplies necessary for camp programs.
17. Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).
18. Assists in leading campers during waterfront, nature, outdoor, arts & crafts or other activities.
19. Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of children participating in camp activities.
20. Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities.
21. Sits with camper tables during meals and serves as a table monitor when needed.
22. May assist in cleaning the cabins, kitchen, tables, floors, etc. in accordance with established sanitary standards.
23. May assist in preparing and serving snacks and meals.

Music Instructor Duties:

1. Provides quality music instruction to campers.
2. Teaches music theory and provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
3. Reviews assigned homework with students and re-teaches skills if necessary.
4. Responsible for the care of instruments during class.
5. Prepares students for recitals and concerts.
6. Plans, schedules, assigns, and monitors student work in progress.
7. Recommends and develops activities to enhance musical abilities.
8. Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students.
9. Participates and assists in various classes as assigned.

What we are looking for in you:

Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred; six months experience teaching music education with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements include endurance, climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours.
