Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Senior Reporter, TV will work closely with the Senior Editor, TV to help identify and cover news stories that can benefit from original reporting, and tap into their rolodex of sources to ensure that PEOPLE is publishing deeply reported celebrity content and consistently breaking news in the TV and celebrity world. The Senior Reporter will work in many content areas contributing ideas, reporting help, and writing, with an eye towards traffic driving content. They will pitch and write for both print and digital platforms and will be expected to produce multiple digital stories per day which span across breaking news articles to in-depth features. They are also expected to coordinate the production of multiple print stories per week, which includes pitching original ideas, coordinating interviews, and collaborating with Art and Photo departments. Important to have entertainment industry contacts as they may be charged with booking talent for specific projects.

70% Reporting and writing stories across print and digital that will drive traffic, including celebrity interviews, and collaborating with the Senior Editor, TV on pitches and sourcing opportunities.

15% Covering celebrity events.
15% Working live TV events and award shows.

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or communications, related field or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience:

Minimum 8-10 years experience.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent digital and print writing skills, a deep knowledge of the celebrity news landscape, an eye for a good story, ability to work well with many people across job functions, knowledge of analytics, SEO, and audience engagement. Great celebrity contacts and the ability to make friends with anyone. Incredible interviewing abilities. Strong news instincts.

% Travel Required (Approximate): 0 - 10%, or as assigned.

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 California: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
