Position: Assistant Sound + Video Supervisor @ Bay Street Theater - Summer 2025

Reports to: Director of Production

Location: The position is on-site, in Sag Harbor, NY. Housing is available.

Schedule: The work schedule is determined by Director of Production. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BST's performance calendar. This is a seasonal position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The BST mainstage season features the mounting of 4 productions and other special events. This position requires regular evening and weekend work in conjunction with BST's performance calendar.

The Assistant Sound + Video Supervisor helps to manage day-to-day operations of the sound department which includes coordinating with the sound designers, supervising the hang/circuiting/focus of the sound plots including coordinating rentals, maintaining, and striking the sound plots and venue inventory. The Sound + Video Department is responsible for providing audio and video support to three mainstage shows, concerts, and any other special events requiring sound support. This position is responsible for maintaining expense budgets, communicating closely with designers and design assistants, and hiring and supervising sound personnel.

Responsibilities will include assisting the Sound/Video Supervisor with:

  1. Set up sound shop for beginning of season, communicating with Director of Production regarding any general shop and supplies needs.
  2. Restore sound shop at the end of the season, including updating the stock item inventory and re-stocking general supplies and materials.
  3. Consult with Designers and Design Assistants to ensure design completion and labor efficiency.
  4. Work directly with Sound + Video/Projection Designers to balance budget necessities, feasibility, and design integrity.
  5. Attend tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and previews for notes.
  6. Communicate regularly with Production Stage Manager regarding notes and fixes.
  7. Attend all necessary production meetings as determined by the Director of Production.
  8. Oversee sound and video needs for other summer season programs including Music Mondays, the New Works Festival, and other special events/projects.

The Assistant Sound + Video Supervisor must have a working knowledge of the Yamaha CL5 Sound Console and Qlab 5. Candidates should be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, work safely, efficiently, and quickly, and exhibit professional behavior at all times. Strong organizational skills are required with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional non-traditional hours. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in high places. Work with sound and lighting departments to set up/maintain/strike tech tables for tech and previews, including power, computers, communications, and networking.
