We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support various DoD initiatives, focusing on systems documentation and procedures related to cloud technologies, cybersecurity, DevSecOps, IT operations, and software engineering. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and be able to clearly articulate complex systems and processes in documentation that meets the highest security, compliance, and operational standards.
Responsibilities:
- Write, update and/or edit technical documents for business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet requirements.
- Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management ensuring that final documents meet applicable requirements and regulations.
- Research and gather technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Senior: 10+ years of experience with deep knowledge of cloud systems, DevSecOps, and compliance-driven documentation.
- Advanced Kubernetes: Understanding of container orchestration, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
- Cloud Technologies: Proficient in cloud infrastructure services such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and cloud security practices.
- Cybersecurity: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure coding practices, and risk mitigation strategies in a government or defense context.
- DevSecOps: Experience working within a DevSecOps environment to ensure secure and compliant software development practices.
- IT Operations & System Administration: Strong grasp of IT operational workflows, system administration, and automation practices.
- Microsoft Office: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for creating technical documents and reports.
- Knowledge of Compliant Operating Systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and security protections within DoD environments.
- Familiarity with security frameworks, such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, and other DoD-specific compliance requirements.
- Ability to work with highly sensitive data while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to security protocols.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor language for different audiences (e.g., technical teams, non-technical stakeholders, and executive leadership).
- Experience in diagramming and illustrating complex technical systems (e.g., using tools such as Visio or Lucidchart).
- Ability to manage multiple documentation projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in agile development environments is a plus.
