Roles and Responsibilities:
- Prepares technical documentation written to Military Specification such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784, and coordinates layout and organization of documentation.
- Reads engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Coordinates graphic development to prepare technical publication graphics and illustrated parts breakdown/exploded view diagrams for uploading into the NPA graphics storage area.
- Gathers and researches technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities.
- Interacts with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Programmers as part of a courseware production team.
- Reviews, edits, and proofreads materials written by others, providing suggested revisions.
- Exercises safe, mature, discretionary handling of GFE materials, sensitive materials (documents and equipment), and any GFI for training.
- Prepares various types of technical documentation for ground combat systems which provide technical guidance for the operation, evaluation, maintenance, and repair parts support.
Basic Qualifications:
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Security Clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree in an applicable technical field or 8 years of equivalent experience, and excellent written communication skills.
- Must be able to research, develop, and/or update content for printed manuals, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), I-types, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) documents, illustrations, and parts breakdown manuals using software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Arbortext Editor, and/or common XML Editor.
- Experience with editing Extensible Markup Language (XML) and/or Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) is a must.
- Must have experience preparing technical documentation written to Military Specification such as MIL-STD-40051 and MIL-STD-38784, and coordinating layout and organization of documentation.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Experience interacting with Subject Matter Experts, Instructional Designers, and Programmers as part of a courseware production team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with U.S. Army developed Interactive Authoring and Display System (IADS) is a plus.
- Ability to review, edit, and proofread materials written by others, giving guidance and providing suggested revisions.
- Experience coordinating graphics development to prepare technical publication graphics and illustrated parts breakdown/exploded view diagrams for uploading into the NPA graphics storage area.
- Ability to gather and research technical information, including engineering and development information, for use in documentation activities.
