Salary/Hourly Rate: $55,000-$58,000

Texas Advocacy Project (TAP) is a statewide non-profit working to end dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking, and human trafficking in Texas. The Media & Marketing Specialist will play a key role in enhancing the organization's presence through social media management, content creation, and strategic media outreach. The Media & Marketing Specialist will be responsible for creating and updating engaging marketing and communications materials and developing media relations strategies to elevate the organization's brand. In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and external media outlets to ensure TAP’s message is clearly communicated and widely recognized.
Position Description
- Content Creation & Management: Develop, manage, and optimize engaging content for various channels including social media, blogs, press releases, TAP’s website, and marketing materials. Plan and maintain a content calendar in alignment with TAP’s goals and long-term goals.
- Marketing Requests: Produce marketing materials as requested by grantors, media, corporate partners, and internal departments.
- Social Media Management: Oversee all of TAP’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn). Create content that aligns with TAP’s strategic goals and content calendar, this includes producing and editing videos for campaigns, events, and online platforms. Assist in amplifying our CEO’s voice on all of TAP’s social media platforms.
- Press Releases & Media Advisories: Write, edit, and distribute press releases and media advisories to announce key events, grant awards, and organizational updates.
- Media Outreach: Identify and build relationships with relevant media outlets, journalists, and influencers. Pitch story ideas, press releases, and updates to secure media coverage. Manage TAP’s media inquiries via email and phone.
- Media Events & Training: Organize media briefings, events, and interviews. Prepare media kits and coach spokespeople and executives to ensure clear and effective communication during interviews.
- Measurement & Reporting: Track the effectiveness of media and marketing efforts, providing regular reports on social media metrics, media coverage, and overall communication strategy performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within marketing/social media.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and ensure accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Up to date knowledge of media outlets, trends, and the news landscape.
- Proficiency in Canva, PR software and tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn).
- Strong and effective interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a wide variety of people and organizations.
- Self-driven to work independently with minimal supervision and use disciplined time management skills to complete multiple activities and grant deliverables within deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of domestic violence issues and the circumstances faced by those experiencing it or an exhibited desire and ability to expediently learn the issues.
- Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including BIPOC survivors, advocates, and stakeholders in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of a decision-making process.
- Commitment to a non-violent perspective and willingness to work in such an environment.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee, donor, funder, survivor and case information.
- Bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish are preferable.
- Physical work including light to heavy lifting may be required.
Salary range $55,000-$58,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Texas Advocacy Project provides health insurance, malpractice insurance, CLE and State Bar dues are paid, and you have the opportunity to participate in the Project’s matching retirement plan.
