ADVOCACY AND COMMUNICATION MANAGER
Status: Exempt, Full-time
Reports to: Chief Communication + Brand Officer
Unit: Administration
Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000

As the Advocacy and Communications Manager, you will partner closely with the Chief Communication + Brand Officer (CCBO) to develop and execute strategies that amplify our voice, align our messaging with legislative priorities, and strengthen our presence as a thought leader in the fight to ensure everyone has a place to call home. This role requires strategic thinking, strong project management skills, and the ability to drive impactful initiatives with minimal oversight.
Strategic Communication
- Collaborate with the Chief Brand + Communication Officer to develop and execute communication and brand strategies that align with organizational goals, working closely with the CCBO to ensure consistency and impact.
- Create high-quality content, including press releases, reports, newsletters, and digital campaigns, ensuring all communications reflect our mission and inspire action.
- Manage the organization’s digital presence, driving engagement through social media, website updates, and online campaigns.
Advocacy Leadership
- Serve as the primary liaison to the legislative and advocacy firm, ensuring a cohesive approach to advancing policy goals and organizational priorities.
- Monitor legislative developments and provide strategic recommendations to the CCBO, identifying opportunities to influence policy and strengthen advocacy efforts.
- Craft compelling narratives that integrate advocacy priorities into public messaging, driving awareness and support for key initiatives.
Event Management and Engagement
- Plan and execute advocacy-focused events, including legislative briefings, community forums, and press events, ensuring they align with strategic objectives.
- Represent the organization in advocacy and community settings, building relationships with key stakeholders and expanding our influence.
- Develop and manage event communications to maximize impact and engagement.
Data-Driven Insights
- Analyze and report on the effectiveness of communication and advocacy efforts, using data to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Maintain and leverage a repository of key data points and success stories to support storytelling and advocacy efforts.
Project Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of communication and advocacy initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
- Manage cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external partners to achieve shared goals.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 4-5 years of experience in communications, advocacy, or a related role, with a track record of leadership and project ownership.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans in both communication and advocacy contexts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Expertise in digital communication platforms, including social media and content management systems.
- Familiarity with legislative processes and advocacy best practices.
