Description

We’re looking for an Environment Artist with at least 5 years experience in game development and one shipped title. You will work closely with the Art and Design teams to help create and model 3D art assets optimally while working closely with the level designer's layout. You will be spearheading the visual look of our environments while working with outsource teams and associate artists to maintain a high visual standard. Our ideal candidate demonstrates both the artistic and technical sides of the art process, values teamwork, is autonomous, shows initiative and wants to work in a well-funded startup environment.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the art director and designers to achieve the visual direction of the game
  • Work closely with designers in crafting a world that supports the player experience
  • Identify outsourcing needs with art and world building directors
  • Create and integrate art assets into the game engine, from prototype to final in-game assets
  • Mentor associate artists with best practices and personal creative growth
  • Provide feedback to outsource teams to support consistent quality and style of the environment art
  • Create modular kits and prototype assets in collaboration with design teams

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of building modular environments and worlds in Unreal Engine
  • A solid understanding of modeling, texture and material creation pipelines
  • Advanced knowledge of lighting, time of day, fog/skyboxes, and post-process effects
  • Understanding of technical limitations with art creation pipelines
  • Ability to evaluate needs of the art team and handle outsourcing as needed
  • Proven ability to work with art teams to deliver on the game's artistic vision
  • Excellent skills in organization, communication, and team collaboration
  • Knowledge of content creation software: 3ds Max/Blender, Zbrush, Substance or Photoshop
  • At least 5 years of experience as a content artist

Salary Bands By Level:

  • Environment Artist - 60k to 90k
  • Senior Environment Artist - 85k to 120k
