EXPEDITOR (REQ 3848) INTERNAL
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Expediter position will assist in all warehousing, purchasing, and expediting functions of the Material Management Department. Operates various office machines and uses hospital vehicles for picking up and delivering freight. The expediter assists all departments of the hospital with various functions and maintains professionalism with all customers to ensure quality of service, confidentiality, and security.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- The position of Expediter requires a minimum of a high school diploma and/or GED.
- Preferred to have a minimum of 2-3 years work experience in a hospital or Health Care environment.
- Medical terminology and familiarity with medical supplies and equipment is essential.
- Clerical ability is required to process documents timely and accurately.
- This individual should be able to operate such general office machines as a fax, computer keyboard, adding machine, mail machine and photocopier.
- The individual in this position must have a valid drivers license, and a good driving record.
- This position must deal courteously and tactfully with patients, staff and the public in general.
- The individual must follow established hospital policies and procedures, work with attention to detail, maintain accurate records and be willing and able to contribute to a pleasant, positive working environment.
ENVIRONMENT:
South Peninsula Hospitalis a 22 bed acute care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. Attached to this facility is a 25 bed long term care unit. The Expediter works from an office located in the main receiving/shipping area of the warehouse. The Expediter usually works 8:30 - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, but may have to work some overtime or different hours to accommodate the needs of the hospital.
