Summary
The Proposal Writer is a key player in Athena Technology Group's Business Development Team. Primary tasks include creating and delivering high-quality, compelling, winning proposals that highlight the strengths of ATG and adhere to corporate branding. The successful Proposal Writer candidate will lead proposal writing on all proposal efforts, having a proven track record of proposal wins in the Government Contracting arena.
This is a writing intensive role requiring support for all levels of RFIs and Proposals. The Proposal Writer will collaborate with members of ATG's Leadership Team and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) as needed to ensure proposals are accurate and contain all requested information as outlined by the Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements. This role will collect information from SMEs and ATG divisions and edit the information to meet RFI/RFP requirements. This position reports to the Director, Performance Management.

Essential functions
- Must be detail-oriented and organized with ability to support and follow style guides and branding policies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word styles, templates, etc.)
- Familiar with Adobe products and combining document, as needed.
- Supports Performance Management division during entire proposal lifecycle, providing proposal document templates and information adhering to RFI and RFP requirements.
- Meets all required deadlines, ensures outline is compliant with RFP compliance matrixes built from section L and M.
- Ensure compliance with Shipley methodologies and internal processes to create consistent compliant proposals that are compelling.
- Ability to write proposal volumes while supporting the overall management of the proposal requirements including timeline and necessary review meetings.
- Provides desktop publishing and formatting throughout the process and is responsible for implementing proposal format based on style guides and the proposal plan
- Support maintenance of Standard Boilerplate/Content Library to account for updated records, files, and revisions.
- Edit, standardize, and make changes to material prepared by other writers to ensure compliance with RFP requirements.
- Collaborate with Business Units and SMEs to obtain required content to consistently submit compliant and compelling proposals.
- When electronic delivery is not an option, ensure proposals are formatted according to required specifications and delivered timely and prior to submission deadlines.
- Must be able to attend necessary meetings in Herndon, VA including creation of hard-copy proposals.
- Education and Years Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree (English, Technical Writing, or related discipline preferred)
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional technical writing experience preferred in Government Contracting RFP development.
