Organization Information

All women and newborns are entitled to quality maternal and newborn healthcare services before, during, and after childbirth, no matter where they live. One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization implementing Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) system-strengthening interventions in Nepal. Our theory of change is based on direct partnership with local government authorities and program stakeholders. We seek to improve access to quality care in remote, underserved areas of Nepal, where mothers and their newborns are the most vulnerable.

Job Summary

This is an hourly consultancy position. Qualified applicants can work up to 30 hours per week. Qualified applicants may be based anywhere in the world. The grant writer will be expected to support the fundraising team’s goal of submitting an average of 100 grant proposals/year. Funding requests range from USD 10,000 to USD 2M. More specifically, the grant writer will:

Funding Opportunities:

  • Research new funding opportunities, determine eligibility, and obtain information on application processes.

Proposal development:

  • Collaborate with our colleagues in Nepal to obtain relevant details for each grant proposal, including project-specific information, targets, and budgets.
  • Develop initial drafts for each proposal, including budgets
  • Participate in the group editing process to finalize each proposal
  • Compile all necessary supporting documents for each proposal

Support the grants team:

  • Step in as needed with other grants-related duties. Attend weekly staff meetings and other team meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3-5 years of experience as a non-profit organization grant writer
  • Excellent written communication skills in English
  • Strong organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Flexible team player with a high emotional intelligence and the ability to interact with a variety of internal and external professionals
  • Comfortable operating independently and possessing a strong proactive communication style regarding task completion
  • Comfortable with Google Suite, Adobe, and Dropbox
  • Be passionate about improving the health of women and newborns in challenging environments.

Bonus Points if you have:

  • Previous remote work experience
  • Experience working with maternal/child health organizations or for any global health nonprofit
  • Knowledge of international and humanitarian affairs, nonprofit/INGO management, philanthropic and/or international development funding landscape
  • Experience writing successful grant proposals for USAID or other government funding agencies
  • Experience working in a diverse, cross-cultural environment
  • Existing familiarity with Nepali culture and global maternal/neonatal health trends

Compensation Information

$35 to $45 per hour, depending on your experience
