Reports to: Vice President Marketing

Position Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Members First Credit Union to deliver on its mission: To encourage a better tomorrow. Essential Duties

  • To secure funding through targeted grant proposals that support the underserved, CDFI populations, and the ALICE demographic, while enhancing community impact initiatives at Members First Credit Union.
  • Research and identify grants: Conduct thorough research to identify grant opportunities that align with M1 mission to serve underserved populations. Focus on grants specifically for Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) populations, as well as other opportunities with the National Credit Union Foundation, Michigan Credit Union Foundation, and Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis.
  • Proposal development: Write grant proposals that effectively communicate our mission, goals, and impact. Collaborate with teams to gather necessary data, storytelling, and testimonials to support grant applications.
  • Grant management: Monitor grant deadlines, requirements, and reporting processes to ensure compliance. Maintain a detailed record of grant applications, funding received, and outcomes achieved.
  • Reporting and evaluation: Prepare reports for project process and outcomes. Evaluate the effectiveness of funded programs and make recommendations for future proposals.
  • Be visible in the communities we serve and represent the credit union at meetings (CDFI, Michigan Credit Union League, housing initiatives, FHLBI, Chamber meetings) and events.
  • This is a hybrid position with the expectation of 3-days in the office.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with Swinging for Scholarships golf event and Scholarship application process.
  • Community engagement: Engage with nonprofits and community organizations and stakeholders to understand the needs of the underserved populations we serve. Build relationships with potential funding organizations.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance in all areas of grant writing and CDFI.
  • Perform general office support functions as necessary.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to move or transport up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to remain stationary for 2-4 hours at a time.
Work Environment
  • Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Routinely clean and disinfect work areas (i.e. teller stations, desk surfaces, phones, electronic equipment).
  • Protect the confidentiality of credit union staff and members by locking door or removing items from desk/workstation when away.
Education and Experience
  • Proven experience in grant writing, with a successful track record of securing funding.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
