Senior Software Engineer, Front End (UX)

We are seeking Front End Software Engineers who are passionate about using cutting-edge open source frameworks with emerging technologies. As a Capital One Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Work with a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
  2. Perform software development on Front End Applications leveraging a test-driven development pattern.
  3. Contribute to training, onboarding curriculum, and internal learning tooling for the Capital One Tech College.
  4. Design, wireframe, conduct empathy interviews, and advise on the overall user experience of Tech College’s internal learning tooling.
  5. Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.
  6. Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment.
  7. Utilize programming languages like JavaScript (React, Node), HTML/CSS, TypeScript and open source frameworks, RESTful web services, and work on cross-browser and cross-device development.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree.
  2. At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: JavaScript, React, Angular, Node, TypeScript, or Java.
  2. 1+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
  3. 3+ years of experience in UX design.
  4. 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks.
  5. 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.

Compensation and Benefits:

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000 for Senior Software Engineer

Richmond, VA: $144,200 - $164,600 for Senior Software Engineer
