Emerging Technologies Center (ETC) Baltimore is dedicated to establishing Baltimore as a national leader in tech startups by fostering innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity within its entrepreneurial ecosystem. Our goal is to empower local entrepreneurs, especially those from historically underrepresented communities, by providing them with the necessary knowledge, financial support, and social capital to succeed. The Venture Studio Manager for ETC will ensure that all programs under the ETC Venture Studio run successfully and efficiently by providing support to start-up programming, deal origination, and executing key strategies for venture investment and analysis.

In addition, you should enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, so you must possess strong organizational skills, and be highly detailed oriented. You should be a quick learner, and able to develop new skills and fluency with new industries effectively and efficiently, while taking personal responsibility to work on any of your knowledge gaps. You will need a strong command of financial and statistical analytics, as well as qualitative and quantitative research and problem-solving skills. Therefore, proficiency in Excel for financial analysis and modeling and being comfortable with financial tracking and data processing software is important.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the progress of investment opportunities, identify and prioritize action items, and ensure timely follow-up
• Conduct market research by analyzing market trends, economic conditions, and industry data to support investment decisions
• Assist in the due diligence processes, such as reviewing financial statements, legal documents, and other relevant information
• Prepare comprehensive investment proposals and recommendations for internal review
• Monitor and manage the performance of existing investment portfolios, including ongoing analysis and reporting
• Assist in the design and development of programming to support portfolio company and founder needs
• Network and attend entrepreneurial ecosystem events to generate leads and connect portfolio companies to additional ecosystem resources.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, business partners, and community leaders

Qualifications

• A masters degree or equivalent experience is highly preferred
• Background in Biotech/Medtech required
• Experience in or an understanding of technology startups and venture capital
• Experience working with government agencies or equivalents
• Demonstrated writing, editing, and research skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills required
• Highly analytical, detailed, and organized
• Exercises sound judgment
• Ability to work under tight time constraints
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
• Experience with basic MS Office tools is required. Experience with CRMs and financial analytical tools is highly desirable.
