We are seeking an experienced Customs Entry Writer to join our team in Charlotte, NC.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process customs entries for air and ocean shipments, ensuring compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
- Review and manage documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Classify goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and verify tariff and duty rates.
- Coordinate with carriers, brokers, and customers to ensure timely clearance and delivery of shipments.
- Communicate with CBP and other government agencies to resolve issues and obtain necessary clearances.
- Maintain accurate records of import documentation, entry data, and compliance reports.
- Monitor shipment statuses and update customers with regular progress reports.
- Assist with post-entry processes, including amendments, protests, and duty drawback claims.
- Stay current on changes in customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in a similar role within the freight forwarding or logistics industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. import regulations and HTS classification.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage documentation with accuracy.
- Proficiency in customs software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with AES, ISF filings, and other import/export processes is a plus.
