What You'll Do
Epic Games is looking for experienced Concept Artists to join our team, working on various projects related to the development of Fortnite. In this role you will work directly with the art and design directors to help lead the vision of the projects. You should be able to tell a story through your images, have a combination of strong creative/visual aesthetics, excellent design skills, and a clear rendering style designing characters and environments. You should be able to demonstrate that you can think outside the box and translate an awesome gameplay experience into an awesome visual experience.
In this role, you will
- Create images that help set the vision for the future of Fortnite and other projects
- Tell a story through these images that bring the world to life
- Create characters and environments based on direction from the project Art Director and input from the game design team
- Collaborate on the vision and ensure our designs are of the Epic quality bar
- Help Epic push the visual envelope by creating stunning and inspiring explorations of the gameplay fantasy
- Create and iterate unique and creative designs within a determined production schedule
What we're looking for
- Experience designing powerful artistic key art images that can bring a world to life and tell a story
- Knowledge of what makes games fun, with an understanding of how games are made
- Strong traditional drawing and painting skills with expertise in composition, lighting, color theory
- Knowledge of human anatomy as well as dynamic posing
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Someone who collaborates well with others
- A mind for technical function and aesthetic pursuit with an ability to balance creativity with function
- Ability to work within gameplay design restraints (environment scale, character abilities, prototype function, etc.) and translate those restrictions into visuals that enhance the experience
