Power Plus Productions is hiring: Audio Department Head in Salt Lake City

Role Description

The Audio Department Head reports directly to the Operations Manager. This position oversees a team of 3 to 6 technicians to plan, prep, and maintain the quality of audio equipment delivered to shows around the country. Working closely with production management, other departments, and other audio engineers to ensure consistent quality for every project. The selected candidate will assist/engineer shows as necessary.

Responsibilities

1. Assist in the selection and design of audio equipment responding to the needs of our clients, based on budgetary guidelines and accepted technical standards.
2. Assist with creating and updating audio plots.
3. Coordinate project requirements with other departments, clients, and venues, including equipment, rigging, power, labor, and shipping schedules as required.
4. Generate show-specific equipment Pull Sheets within inventory control software (FLEX).
5. Work with Warehouse Managers and Technicians to ensure all equipment pulls, packaging, and labeling are accurate and in accordance with the pull sheets.
6. Unload, set up, and tear down, load equipment for shows as needed.
7. Direct audio crews in show-site activities as required, maintaining workplace, project, and site safety always.
8. Follow procedures pertaining to preventative equipment loss measures.
9. Maintain and service equipment as necessary, providing service logs and schedules.
10. Coordinate special projects, including research and recommendations for purchase of specialty audio related items for show applications.
11. Maintain sufficient equipment and supplies stock to ensure the ongoing needs of the production.
12. Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and neat warehouse environment.
13. Provide training/tutoring for staff on your department’s procedures, including equipment preparation, set-up, operation, removal, QC, troubleshooting, and repair.
14. Assume duties of co-workers throughout the company as needed.

Qualifications

Skill Requirements

1. Familiarity with audio equipment, including Dante.
2. Computer literacy including basic networking.
3. Project management and a strong attention to detail.
4. Knowledge of warehouse operations.
5. Ability to work cooperatively with team members and other departments.
6. Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to multi-task and be proactive.
8. Experience operating a forklift and materials handling equipment.
9. Math aptitude, planning, organization, and problem solving.

Physical Requirements

1. Must be able to lift, carry, move, and place up to 50 pounds as needed.
2. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to assist with loading and unloading equipment into trucks.

Eligibility Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED minimum, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
2. Three plus (3+) years of experience in audio production for live events, including hands-on experience with wireless microphones, amplifiers, line array systems, and digital consoles.
3. Proficient in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
4. Have excellent written, communication, and time management skills.
5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as CAD Drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
6. Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
7. Ability to work with limited supervision and provide a respectful & positive work environment.
8. Ability to operate scissor lift and forklift preferred.
9. Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
10. Available to travel as required.
11. Knowledge of Avid, Allen & Heath, L’Acoustics, Harmon, and Digico products preferred.
12. Familiarity with Flex Rental Solutions software a plus.
