Camp Audio Visual & Recreation Specialist

Location: Camp Grandview, Jasper, Georgia

Position: Summer Camp Audio/Visual Specialist/Recreation Specialist

Position Type: Overnight Residential - Temporary Full-Time

Pay Rate: $250.00 weekly

About this opportunity:

Prepare, plan, and operate audio/visual equipment for meetings, events, and classes at the Salvation Army camps. Ensure camp activities are recorded for use in Salvation Army publications. Capture video and pictures for these publications. Plan, coordinate, and lead all recreational sports at camp. Train other staff to lead, chaperone, and monitor recreation activities. Ensure safety for campers and staff during activities and assist with camp programs as directed by the Camp Director.

Key responsibilities:

Audio/Visual (30%)

  • Set up, adjust, and operate audio/visual equipment for various camp programs.
  • Keep the sound room clean and organized.
  • Report any problems with audio/visual equipment to the Divisional Youth Secretary.
  • Videotape camp activities daily and produce a weekly review video.
  • Instruct camp employees in the use of audio/visual materials and assist in preparation of instructional materials.
  • Perform simple maintenance tasks on audio/visual equipment.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Participate as a member of the camp staff team for evening programs and other activities.

Recreation (70%)

  • Plan, develop, coordinate, and supervise recreation activities for campers.
  • Set up sports and recreation areas for activities.
  • Supervise recreation activities to ensure safety and compliance with camp rules.
  • Conduct daily inspections of recreational areas and equipment for safety and cleanliness.
  • Participate as a member of the camp staff team for evening programs and other activities.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Two years’ experience in video production and leading sports or recreation activities preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Archery/Air Rifles Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Endurance for climbing, standing, bending, and stretching. Normal range of hearing and eyesight. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours. Daily exposure to sun and varying environmental conditions.

Additional Information:

Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 9– June 15, 2025. The summer Camp program session will be held June 16 - July 19, 2025. If unable to work the entire session, please indicate on your application.
