Reporting directly to the Environmental Services Engagement Manager, and with a strong alliance to the Marketing Public Relations Lead, Strategic Growth Marketing and Sector Marketing teams, the Communications Specialist (CS) is part investigative journalist, part storyteller, with excellent communication skills. The position plays a key role in supporting content marketing strategies and employee communications for Environmental Services.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

  1. Content Development – Copywriting & Editing
    • Develop, implement, and analyse content marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, web traffic, social media engagement, and media coverage, supporting lead generation.
    • Strategize with Environmental Services Strategic Pursuits (ESSP) colleagues to plan, create, and publish content on various media channels, ensuring key strategic and brand messages are consistent.
    • Collaborate with SEO, Graphic Design, and Digital Marketing professionals to align produced content with campaign goals.
    • Create high-performing content to grow audiences while increasing positive brand sentiment and awareness.
    • Work closely with Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations (MCPR) colleagues to drive a cohesive vision and roadmap for content.
    • Leverage innovative storytelling and emerging platforms to engage with existing and new audiences.
    • Participate in larger ESSP team meetings to discuss content initiatives and contribute to brainstorm sessions.
  2. Marketing System Support/Leadership
    • Use the Stantec Marketing Knowledge Center (SMKC) to incorporate teamwork, collaboration, and information-sharing to achieve greater effectiveness in marketing-related projects.
    • Assist in the development and coordination of regional content for Stantec's communications systems and tools.
  3. Employee Engagement
    • Craft engaging internal communications content that keeps employees informed about business unit news and initiatives, fostering employee engagement.
    • Support the larger goals of MCPR colleagues in identifying and engaging practitioners in promotional activities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in environmental science, communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or professional writing role.

Other Requirements:

  • Creative, strategic thinker.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interviewing, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills required.
  • Highly proficient with web content management systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, as well as work autonomously.

Salary Range(s):

Outside NYC $31 - $44 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in MN, NYC/NY.

$34 - $49 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
