Salary: Depending on qualifications

To manage services, programs, and collection development for the Mesquite Main Library by supervising the public services staff; and to perform various administrative tasks to assist the Director of Library Services.

SUPERVISION

General supervision is provided by the Director of Library Services. Responsible for supervision of Librarians, Assistant Librarians, and Library Pages at the Main Library.
  1. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
  2. Manage the daily operations of public services at the Main Library, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  3. Plan, assign, supervise, and review the work of the Main Library public services staff, including librarians and support personnel.
  4. Recruit, train, and evaluate staff performance, providing guidance and support to foster professional development.
  5. Oversee Main Library collection purchases and maintenance, including reviewing materials and making final purchasing decisions.
  6. Manage the development and maintenance of the Main Library collection.
  7. Participate in the preparation of the Main Library budget and monitor expenditures.
  8. Plan, implement, and evaluate library programs and outreach activities that meet community needs.
  9. Collaborate with local schools and organizations to promote literacy and library services.
  10. Answer inquiries and resolve complaints timely and professionally.
  11. Resolve or report facility issues; train staff to secure the building at closing.
  12. Attend City Council, Library Board, or Friends of the Library meetings as needed.
  13. Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained.
  14. Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patrons.
  15. Stay informed about new library trends and best practices.
EDUCATION

Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five years of relevant experience, including three years of supervisory experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Possession of a valid driver's license.

WORK SCHEDULE

Work 40 hours a week. Must have the availability to work one evening a week till 8pm and two Saturdays per month.
