Position: Camp Music & Arts Conservatory Instructor
Position Type: Temporary Full-Time - Overnight Residential
Pay Rate: $ 375.00 - $475 weekly
About this opportunity:
Plans, coordinates, and directs assigned functions of the Conservatory Music & Creative Arts program; ensures the quality of programs and safety of youth at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to youth and ensures safety and a positive experience for campers. Music & Arts Instructors will each have at least one specific field of instruction in either Acting, Brass, Choral, Dance, Guitar, Percussion, Piano, and/or Visual Arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides quality music and/or dance and/or acting and/or art classroom instruction daily and activities which will develop musical abilities and motor and learning skills of students.
- Prepares students for recitals and concerts and provides weekly lessons.
- Teaches theory and technique as it applies to the appropriate level for performance purposes.
- Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods, enabling all students to feel welcome and comfortable.
- Be responsible for the care of instruments and equipment during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Divisional Music & Arts Director.
- Participates and assists in various classes as assigned. Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.
- Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
- Sits with camper tables during meals and serves as a table monitor when needed.
- Keeps workspace and personal living quarters neat and clean.
- Skill in performing arts in at least one specific field of instruction either in Acting, Brass, Choral, Dance, Guitar, Percussion, Piano, and/or Visual Arts.
- Functional knowledge of the principles and practices of music and arts education for children and teenagers of all levels.
- Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective instruction for group and private setting.
- Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with children and youth.
- Ability to communicate effectively with campers and camp staff.
- Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
What we are looking for in you:
One year experience of classroom and/or private lesson teaching and/or directing experience in at least one specific field of instruction either in Acting, Brass, Choral, Dance, Guitar, Percussion, Piano, and/or Visual Arts, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
- CPR and First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Some physical requirements of the Camp Conservatory Music Instructor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

Additional Information:
Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 10-15, 2025, and participation is required. The 2025 Summer Camp Program will be held June 16, 2025 – July 19, 2025 . If you are unable to work the entire program session, please let us know on your application.
Camp Staff debrief will be held 07/20/2025 and participation is required.
