WCPO, The E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Cincinnati, OH, is seeking a News Producer to join our team. The News Producer will assist in gathering, writing, and editing content for daily programming. As part of our team, you will create and organize content for multiple platforms utilizing editorial, journalistic, organizational, and communication skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  1. Develop and organize newscasts or local programs.
  2. Write stories and showcase them.
  3. Collaborate with reporters, anchors, news managers, and assignment editors to determine content needs.
  4. Enhance content with graphics, video, research, and station branding.
  5. Oversee the show's broadcast and make up-to-the-minute editorial decisions.
  6. Post content to station's websites.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  1. BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
  2. Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  1. Avid local news consumer: knows daily news, events, trends, and happenings on a local level
  2. Strong vision and ability to advance stories
  3. Excellent interpersonal communicator
  4. Extraordinarily passionate about writing; courageous and creative storyteller with attention to even tiny details - choosing the perfect words while also exhibiting proper grammar and spelling
  5. Highly organized
  6. Highly adaptable for a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  7. Strong self-motivation
  8. Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws and strong editorial judgment
  9. Able to use web analytics
  10. Proficient with newsroom computer systems, MS Office a plus
  11. Flexible work hours may be required, including holidays, weekends, and evenings
