Course Description
In Part 2 of a two-course program, you are provided with the tools to write sections of a narrative report. You’ll complete eight writing assignments based on sections of a narrative appraisal report for the case study property you analyzed in Part 1. This course provides you with the tools to 1) apply a wide range of appraisal procedures to solve complex appraisal problems and 2) use a narrative reporting format with confidence to explain and support your conclusions convincingly.

Who Should Enroll
Appraisers seeking residential real property appraiser certification with experience and understanding of the fundamental concepts of appraising.
Course Objectives
- Recognize communication problems commonly found in appraisal report writing.
- Write and edit the seven analytical sections included in a valuation assignment that uses all three approaches to value.
- Write an effective letter of transmittal.
- Communicate valuation analysis in a clear, convincing manner that is not misleading to an intended user.
- Rewrite sentences and paragraphs to communicate your analysis more clearly and concisely.
Prerequisites
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word OR similar word processing software AND Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
Equipment Requirements
- A laptop computer is required with a flash drive and Microsoft Word and Excel OR form software with AI Reports Form 100, Summary Appraisal Report • Residential, installed OR other word processing/spreadsheet program AND Adobe Acrobat Reader software for converting files to PDFs.
- A financial calculator is required. The accepted model used in the program is the HP-12C.
