Springfield Park District Seasonal Part Time Graphic Designer Department: Recreation Administration Position Title: Seasonal Part Time Graphic Designer Reporting Authority: Position Reports directly to Assistant Director of Recreation and Marketing Classification: Part-Time Salary: $15 hr. What is the Springfield Park District? The Springfield Park District offers a variety of educational and recreational programs, classes and events for people ranging in age from 6 months to seniors. The Park District partners with several local organizations and clubs to provide athletic programming such as youth baseball/softball, men's soccer, disk golf leagues, cricket, rugby, pickleball, youth football, bicycling clubs and related clubs/groups. Additionally, the Springfield Park District also maintains intergovernmental/cooperative agreement with various Police Departments, School District and local colleges. We manage 4 Golf Courses, 2 Indoor Ice Rinks, 2 Outdoor Pools, Indoor Pool, 3 Dog Runs, 3 Disc Golf Courses, 2 Baseball Stadiums, 2 Early Childhood Program Facilities; Preschool & Funshop, 2 Historic Pavilions, Special Needs Facility, a Carillon, Botanical Garden, Tennis Complex, Skate Park, Erin's Pavilion Rental Facility and the Henson Robinson Zoo. Position Summary: The Seasonal Part Time Graphic Designer reports to the Assistant Director of Recreation & Marketing. This position is responsible for assisting the Marketing Department with the design and creation of digital content, physical marketing materials, and more. This position must show a strong understanding of the various brand identities of the Park District and effectively promote them. An ideal candidate will have a proven track record of being creative, collaborative, self-motivated, and highly organized with strong time management skills. Specific Responsibilities: • Design digital content for social, website, promotional ads, and email marketing campaigns, etc. • Develop marketing collaterals such as; brochures, flyers, pamphlets, business cards, posters, advertisements, etc. • Manage design guidelines, digital assets, and graphic archives. • Assist with performing photo and video shoots. • Handle special projects as assigned. • Skilled in photo editing and videography. • Solid grasp of design fundamentals, concepts, and best practices. • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects. • All other projects assigned by Assistant Director of Recreation & Marketing Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : • Current undergraduate or graduate working towards or has received a degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Skilled Knowledge in the use of design, video, and print concepts. • Advance skills in Adobe Creative Suite Graphic Design Software, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat PDF, and After Effects as well as Photography and/or Videography. • Strong computer background and proficiency required with Microsoft Office 365 preferred, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook experience required. • Portfolio selections of sample print, digital, and video design work required during the interview process. • Must be able to work a non-traditional work week; sometimes including Monday - Friday but could also flex to include nights and weekends. General Requirements: • Must be able to read and write and have good command of the English language. • Good oral and written communication. • Physical capabilities - lifts 50 pounds, squat, bend and move as necessary for the job. • Must be able to perform basic mathematics. • Must have basic proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Word. • Must possess reliable transportation. • Must possess professional phone skills and work well with the public. • Must present a neat and professional appearance. • Responsible for following policies and procedures outlined in the Springfield Park District employee manual. • Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
