Assistant Professor of Music Technology

The Department of Music at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music Technology. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position beginning in August 2025. The rank of Assistant Professor calls for effective teaching, research/scholarly/creative accomplishments, and regular service to the academic and regional communities.

To be qualified for this position, the applicant will have a Master's in music technology or related field and at least three years of professional audio recording, production, and practical technical skills in the discipline. A Terminal degree in music technology, or equivalent outstanding professional experience related to music technology, synthesis, or sound design and teaching experience in higher education are preferred.

Primary responsibilities of this position will include coordinating and recruiting for the Master of Arts in Music Technology (MTM) program; develop, maintain, and teach innovative curriculum in the field of Music Technology, including but not limited to graduate courses in Recording, Media, Entrepreneurial Skills, and Practical Skills; maintain an active professional life in scholarly/creative activities related to the field of Music Technology; Ability to lead graduate students through the MTM curriculum, including Capstone Projects; Supervise Graduate Assistants; collaborate with other Music Technology faculty to oversee and maintain the Music Department Recording Studio facilities and its equipment; work collaboratively with the graduate college and the Dean's office as a program representative; and participate in service to the university, college, department, and professional discipline. Additional duties may include teaching additional undergraduate and graduate courses in Composing for Media, Acoustics, Advanced Mixing and Mastering Techniques, Live Sound Skills for Engineers, Digital Video Editing for Music, Introduction to Music Technology, and/or other departmental needs as well as collaborating with Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts faculty and staff with graduate assistantships and special projects.
