Job Description
The Quarto Group is looking for a Marketing and Publicity Assistant to help promote titles across the Quarto Adult list, working on titles in categories such as cooking, gardening, home and lifestyle, art, music, and more. The ideal candidate is digitally savvy and has a collaborative spirit, a strong attention to detail, and an ability to multitask. The role will assist in developing digital and traditional marketing and publicity campaigns, handling departmental administrative duties, and coordinating large mailings. The position will be based in our New York, NY office, with a hybrid in-office/work-from-home schedule. To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter.
Key Results Areas
- Assist in execution of digital marketing plans, including social media campaigns, email marketing, and influencer relationships.
- Work with the adult marketing team on the planning, execution and supporting of social media marketing for Quarto Books across all social platforms.
- Organize award submissions for adult books; build academic and library lists for adoption campaigns.
- Produce press releases and media kits, pull pitch lists, write advertising copy, and develop supplemental marketing content.
- Plan and execute mailings, and maintain a detailed and well-organized database of contacts.
- Assist the Director of Marketing and Publicity in analyzing and reporting on the results of marketing initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with the company on marketing initiatives, developments, and accomplishments.
- Manage other administrative duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Required
- Highly creative with an ability to conceive new and innovative approaches to marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Self-starter with ability to follow through and execute efficiently.
- Willingness to learn and adapt as job and/or organization changes.
- Digitally savvy, with strong experience and current knowledge of social media trends.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms required.
- Passion for publishing industry strongly preferred.
Desired
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Box/Dropbox preferred.
- Relationships and experience with independent bookstores a plus.
Education and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 1-2 years’ experience.
Desired
- Experience in the publishing industry preferred but not required.
