The Client Services Assistant is responsible for supporting W. W. Norton's Client Services department and facilitating a productive collaboration between W. W. Norton and our distributed client publishers. This role involves working with our client publishers and colleagues in multiple departments within W. W. Norton and our warehouse, and will enable the successful candidate to learn about many aspects of the process of producing and selling books. This position is best suited to someone who can multitask extensively, see bigger objectives and set priorities, and enjoys working with many colleagues both internal and external.
Working closely with the Client Services team to help bring to market hundreds of titles per year, the Assistant deals with categories as varied as literary fiction, art, comics, cookbooks, nonfiction, poetry, and children's books. This dynamic and highly collaborative role is unique in that it involves working not with a single publisher, but with all of our distinguished client publishers, which include New Directions, Fantagraphics, Tin House, Thames & Hudson, Yale University Press, Harvard University Press, Akashic, The Experiment, Penzler, Abbeville, Tilbury House, and more.
The Assistant reports to our Client Services Director and works closely to support our University Press Sales Director.
Essential Job Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Client Services team by liaising with client publishers, the sales department, and the warehouse, to ensure that the needs and expectations of our client publishers are met
- Maintain seasonal schedules for client publishers
- Schedule and join seasonal launches and sales conferences with client publishers
- Schedule and join weekly, biweekly, and monthly meetings with client publishers
- Oversee seasonal new title setup in our proprietary title data management system
- Help support clients' metadata needs and resolve metadata issues as they arise
- Manage Edelweiss catalogs and ensure metadata and sales and marketing materials are complete and optimal
- Review daily and weekly client sales reports and monitor performance of key titles by market channel
- Consolidate and share media updates with the sales department
- Manage sharing galleys, digital ARCs, and other sales materials on behalf of our client publishers
- Assist with all aspects of client onboarding
- Liaise with other key departments within W. W. Norton, including the metadata and trade sales operations departments, as needed

Required Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Employment eligibility to work with W. W. Norton & Company in the U.S. is required
- Must be able to work from Norton’s New York City headquarters
Compensation and Benefits*
Currently available benefits include:
- Annual compensation for this position is $48,000. All salaries and salary ranges posted by Norton may vary depending on experience, skills, location and like considerations
