POSITION SUMMARY:
The Designer plays a crucial role in supporting the Design Director to bring the collection to life across all categories. This position is instrumental in developing seasonal concepts that shape the collection and crafting compelling product narratives through print and color execution. The Designer collaborates closely with Merchandising, Technical Design, Sourcing, and CAD teams during handovers and fittings to ensure that each product is accurately translated and executed to align with the brand's vision.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and embody the brand’s aesthetic, translating it into innovative and appropriate product designs that resonate with the target audience.
- Continuously research and monitor industry trends and market competitors to inform design decisions, ensuring products are aligned with current fashion movements and business strategies.
- Guarantee that all designs are consistent with market trends and overall business objectives, reinforcing the brand’s identity.
- Create dynamic product storyboards that vividly capture design themes, inspiring and engaging customers with upcoming collections.
- Develop trend boards based on the Design Director’s direction, showcasing visual inspirations that align with seasonal concepts.
- Take an active lead in maintaining a cohesive look and feel across the brand, ensuring that all designs reflect a unified aesthetic.
- Prepare fabric selections and develop a cohesive seasonal color palette and concepts, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with design objectives.
- Partner closely with CAD designers to assist in the development of detailed CAD illustrations, ensuring accurate representation of design elements.
- Attend and actively engage in fittings with the Technical Design team, providing insights and feedback to refine garment details and fit.
- Produce both flat sketches and creative illustrations, demonstrating a strong understanding of garment construction and design details.
- Initiate and oversee fabric and trim development for new design ideas, fostering innovation and quality in product offerings.
- Commit to ongoing research and self-education to stay informed about leading trends in fashion, culture, and design.
- Conduct thorough market research on contemporary and luxury brands, department stores, and online retailers to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences.
- Contribute to special projects as needed, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to the brand’s success.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
- Minimum 5 years of Design experience with strong product development experience across different product categories in women’s wear
- Expert Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a must
- Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Broad product development
- Strong trend forecasting and color sense a must
- Marketing and branding skills required
- Strong presentation skills required
- Excellent taste level
