Public Relations Manager

The Bay Area Panthers, a premier professional football team, are on the lookout for a talented PR professional to fill the role of Public Relations Manager. In this hybrid position, you will report directly to the team President and play a vital role in shaping our communications strategy. Your expertise will help drive our media relations efforts, support our football communications, and collaborate closely with the marketing team.

About the Role:

As a key member of our organization, you will develop and execute a comprehensive earned media strategy. Your responsibilities will include media planning, crafting engaging press materials, managing media availability, and building strong relationships with athletes, coaches, and media representatives. A background in professional sports PR is a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Club's communication strategy, serving as the primary PR contact.
  • Proactively pitch story ideas to media and act as the on-site liaison for our front office.
  • Plan and execute business communications initiatives related to ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, and community engagement.
  • Drive publicity campaigns for players, coaches, and the team President, being the go-to on-site PR contact for media and events.
  • Build lasting relationships with key local and national sports media outlets.
  • Manage, oversee, and edit the annual Media Guide.
  • Maintain a thorough archive of media clips.
  • Support match day media relations duties for both home and away games, including managing media availability, compiling postgame reports, and distributing game-related materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in public affairs or public relations, particularly in sports and entertainment.
  • Proven success in cultivating strong relationships with local and national media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strategic thinker with a knack for crafting innovative PR narratives.
  • A genuine passion for sports and an understanding of the football industry.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during game days.
