Broad Scope & Function
The Social Media and Communications Coordinator will provide direct assistance to the Communications Manager. Under supervision, the Coordinator will support the management of communications functions in the following areas: content, webpage and social media management, graphic design on Canva, and administrative duties. The Coordinator carries out the following tasks: managing media, compiling research, updating the organization's three websites, and managing contact lists ensuring accurate record-keeping, and scheduling meetings.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the Communications Manager and may receive work direction from the Associate and Executive Directors. Collaborates with other communication staff.

Conditions of Employment

This position is a full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay), benefited position, with a defined contribution retirement plan through TIAA. (The position is not covered under the California Public Employees' Retirement System.) Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding.

Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates social media and website management across the organization, including statewide initiative channels of the CSU Student Success Network and the California Education Policy Fellowship Program. Supports updating and maintaining the organization's three websites. Under supervision schedules, drafts, and uploads content to various platforms such as Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and the organization's three websites, including during live events. Monitors social media analytics and activity for three brands across various social media platforms. Under supervision, provides audience engagement, replies to direct messages, and refreshes digital media. Supports identifying quotes for publication within audio and video recordings of events and interviews, noting timestamp for Communications Manager review. Organizes and saves final media files. Organizes and develops communications material and content for review by the Communications Manager, following relevant style guides when drafting post and posting content once the Communications Manager approves it. Coordinates updates to the center's style guides. Supports editorial and post-production processes for written publications. Selects, reads, and summarizes higher education news articles/reports for staff communications updates. Updates and organizes contact lists in Constant Contact. Attends events and coordinates the setup of swag and other event materials, as needed. Supports outreach to communications vendors for webpage troubleshooting issues, as needed. Schedules meetings. Takes meeting notes and uses them to draft new communications collateral or update existing collateral. Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the center and its mission. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. Experience managing social media accounts on one or more platforms. Ability to effectively communicate on social media, including drafting a social media plan and postings, and proofreading content. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and skills to effectively function as part of a team. Demonstrated experience using WordPress or another website management system. Demonstrated experience using word processing, spreadsheets, and email software such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Strong work ethic and ability to take initiative when needed. Ability to maintain productivity independently and work autonomously. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and accountability. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards. Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years of professional experience in public relations, brand management, organizational communications, storytelling, strategic messaging, and/or audience engagement. Experience with the following software: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign), Canva, WordPress, or SquareSpace. Demonstrated experience building social media plans, managing a content calendar, and proof-reading content. Experience drafting press releases and other communications collateral. Familiarity with disproportionate educational impacts for traditionally underserved communities.
Physical Requirements
With or without a reasonable accommodation: Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, and fax machines.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a remote environment; continuous contact with staff, students, campus community, the public, and other agencies.
