Public Relations Account Manager (Remote)
STiR-communications is looking for an experienced PR and media relations specialist who knows how to manage client relationships, pitch stories, and generate media coverage.
This is a remote-work opportunity to join our team and work with a growing roster of unique clients across sectors, including biopharma, biotech, commercial real estate, franchise, medtech, retail, travel, and more.
Requirements to apply:
- At least 5 years of recent public relations experience, preferably in an agency setting.
- PR proficiency in one or more of the following categories: biotech, biopharma, commercial real estate, franchise, medtech, retail, travel, and/or publicly-traded companies.
- Two or more writing samples related to the aforementioned categories and resulting media coverage secured within the past 12 months.
What we're looking for:
- A media relations pro who knows how to manufacture stories and earn media coverage.
- A proactive self-starter who works well independently and when supporting team members.
- Ability to identify client needs and determine steps to meet those needs and garner results.
- Experience in account management including PR planning, client communications, and reporting.
- Experience in writing and editing media materials, such as pitch letters and news alerts.
- Experience in building targeted media lists filled with relevant outlets and reporters.
- Attention to detail, an eye for grammar, and experience with AP style.
- An interest and ability to work on multiple B2B and B2C clients at the same time.
- Organized, flexible, professional, and cool when sometimes facing challenges or pressure.
- Sense of humor, an admirable work ethic, and comfortable working remotely.
What you’ll be doing:
- Serve as the day-to-day client lead and main point-of-contact on multiple accounts.
- Lead client communications through email, phone, and biweekly or monthly meetings.
- Write media pitches and conceptualize story ideas.
- Draft news releases and other PR-related materials when requested or needed for clients.
- Research and create relevant media lists (national, industry, and regional) and keep up to date.
- Research and pinpoint relevant columns and segments to target and pitch for clients.
- Proactively pitch reporters and secure earned media placements across accounts.
- Reactively pitch reporters by staying up to date with industry trends, recent stories, keyword news alerts, etc.
- Secure earned media coverage for clients and maintain at least one placement a month.
- Leverage significant news from clients to secure multiple earned media placements during announcements.
- Collaborate with team members for media pitching support during significant client news announcements.
- Quickly respond to media requests, schedule/confirm interviews, and communicate all the necessary details with the client.
- Create an industry editorial calendar sheet for each client for additional media pitching opportunities and set reminders so no opportunities are missed.
- Create an industry award calendar sheet for each client for potential entries and nominations and set reminders so no opportunities are missed.
- Create an industry event calendar sheet for each client for potential speaking opportunities and set reminders so no opportunities are missed.
- Track client media coverage, share with the client, and update internal coverage sheets.
- Develop 120-day plans for each client to outline goals, KPIs, and top-line items to manage on a quarterly basis.
- Assist in creating annual (or in some cases, quarterly) PR reports to showcase our efforts, successes, and commitment to meeting KPIs to the client.
- Assist in writing client case studies for use in proposals and on the company website as needed.
- Assist in vetting potential clients and developing proposals on a case-by-case basis.
