is seeking an experienced

pidemiologist/Scientific Writer
to support our epidemiological research and operational policy support program focused on improving warfighter readiness, optimizing recruitment and retention, and shaping medical policies. The position entails collaborating with a diverse team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, physicians, data analysts, and military personnel to deliver knowledge products to multiple Department of Defense (DoD) stakeholders.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design, execute, and validate large-scale epidemiological studies to assess the short- and long-term impacts of medical policy changes, occupational exposures, and diseases/injuries on Military service. Conduct literature reviews, interpret results, and lead the scientific writing and editing for various knowledge products, including annual reports, white papers, manuscripts, and briefings. Mentor and train junior staff in study design, analysis, results interpretation, and knowledge product development. Collaborate with team members to swiftly deploy epidemiology-based analytics in response to ad hoc information requests. Utilize expertise in SAS and data visualization to process and analyze large military personnel and medical datasets, interpret results, and present findings to DoD stakeholders. Serve as a critical public health subject matter expert supporting the program's mission. Engage in research collaborations spanning multi-site, multi-agency, and multi-stakeholder initiatives to advance targeted public health objectives Required Qualifications:
MSc or MPH with 5+ years of experience in health/medical research. Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, consensus-building, and analytical skills. Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams within a fast-paced, organized environment while meeting time-sensitive deadlines. Knowledge and experience in statistical analysis, programming using SAS software, and epidemiologic research principles. Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, concise and accurate knowledge products Proficiency in applying and interpreting advanced statistical techniques, explaining methods and findings to non-statistician team members, and training junior staff. Excellent English verbal and written communication skills to keep the research team informed of progress, changes in work status, and to communicate findings to stakeholders. Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications:
Prior service or thorough understanding of the U.S. military is a plus. Prior experience with producing high quality publications using Abobe/InDesign and other relevant applications Expertise in various styles of writing (AMA/Chicago) Previous experience with military health systems and/or DoD personnel and medical databases (e.g. GENESIS). Knowledge and understanding of ICD 9/10 codes. Experience with Tableau a plus. Location: The team is currently 100% telework but may be required return to on-site work in Silver Spring, Maryland. Candidates within reasonable commute range or those willing to relocate are strongly preferred. Security Clearance Requirements:
This position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in stationary position for up to 50% of the time Must be able to move about inside the office or IT environment to access computer systems, modules; equipment and IT machinery Must be able to constantly operate computers and other IT environment systems such as IT machinery, modules, etc The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations The person in this position must be able to detect, identify, observe, and assess written communications; presentations; and manuals
The projected compensation range for this position is $102,200.00-$169,500.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it's employees beyond just compensation.
